Falafel Waffle

Plate of roast chicken, pita bread, falafel waffle, red onions, tomatoes, and sauce

Chickpeas & Tzatziki

Waffle Falafel is a freezer friendly dish that can be reheated with a toaster coven, air fryer, and even a conventional toaster! It eliminates excessive oil use for frying, makes use out of your waffle iron (it’s not just for breakfast!), and this is so easy to make.

Don’t worry, it still has the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern flavors and with each little pocket can hold all the sauces, like:

  • hummus
  • tzatziki
  • hot sauce
  • and MORE!

And it is still good to have with pita bread, the usual vegetables, and paired with chicken.

Waffle Falafel

A new and cleaner way of a Mediterranean favorite! Less oil because of no frying, and is freezer friendly.

  • Waffle Iron
  • Food Processor
  • Mixing Bowls
  • Spatulas
  • kitchen scale
  • 1/3 Cups Olive Oil (extra virgin)
  • 20 grams All Purpose Flour
  • 25 grams Parsley
  • 3 grams Baking Powder
  • 2 grams Cumin (ground)
  • 2 grams Graham masala (optional)
  • 2 grams Salt (kosher)
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander (ground)
  • 1/2 tsp Cayenne (optional)
  • 2 Large Egg Whites
  • 6 grams Garlic clove
  • 15 oz Chickpea (can drained and rinsed)

In a Food Processor

  1. Add garlic and pulse until you get little bits of garlic. Scrape down when the size is achieved

  2. Rip the parsley in half, place in food processor, don't turn on yet.

  3. Add the AP flour, baking powder, cumin, graham masala, salt, coriander, cayenne, and egg whites

  4. Turn on processor until ingredients are incorporated, scrape down sides as needed.

  5. Store until ready to use. Can be put in freezer

Ready to Cook

  1. Heat and prepare your waffle maker according to manufacturer's directions.

  2. Either put the falafel batter in a piping bag, Ziplock with the tip cut, or use a spoon to put in the mix in the waffle maker when it is ready

  3. Cook like how you would cook your waffle and add another minute or 2 depending on done-ness.

  4. Serve with favorite sauce, fresh tomatoes, red onions, and pita (or naan)!
